Who knew?

Who knew when I bought this dress 2 years ago at a consignment sale that she would love it so?
Who knew three+ years ago when I found out I was pregnant with #2 that I could and would love this child so much?

Bowling

The Bakers invited us to go bowling with them and we took them up on their offer! My children really had a great time! Check out their bowling forms...that professional bowling league - it pays well doesn't it?

The War

In order for me to keep some resemblance of sanity around here I generally pick and choose which battles I feel are worth fighting with my kids. Usually I do not pick the ones involving clothing or shoes...that is until Easter Sunday... This past Sunday I decided that Lou was GOING to wear the shoes I'd picked out for her...a pair of cute navy Mary Janes, they went perfectly with her Easter dress and dressy white socks.

Me: "YOU WILL WEAR THESE SHOES!"
Lou: "IIII DONNNN'T WAAAAANT TOOOOO...sob, sob, sob"

But I prevailed and she wore the shoes! I knew I'd won the battle as we were walking into church...my sweet little girl, holding my hand looks up at me and says "I like my shoes Mommy!" I tried not to gloat too much.

Fast forward to after church...we go to a really, really small church - full of kind people who volunteer each week to keep the nursery, which usually consists of our two kids - and that's it. Don & Nancy kept the nursery this particular Sunday. Sweet Don & Nancy who brought my kids Easter gifts... A coloring book for my boy and these for my girl...

Which really means I won the battle, but lost the war!

The Booty

Wow! What a day! How many of you out there have kids "hopped" up on Easter candy like ours? I mean really, how do you present a kid with a basket full of sugar, artifical colors and preservatives at 8 in the morning and then say..."not until you eat breakfast..." Are you kidding me? Not in our house! We were lucky to make it to church before all the peeps were gone! Lunch...delicious spread at Beth's - although the kids were too full from the chocolate bunny. Later lunch...wonderful spread at Casey's - although the kids were full from beans...jelly beans that is! At least we had fun right?

The Easter Bunny is coming to town...

"Houston the Easter Bunny has landed..."

Hi I'm Lily...

Well you'll all be glad to know that the Lingenfelter's are back on our feet! Nothing that a little antibiotic can't handle...

On Thursday Lou & I made the trek to the big city where we visited with our good, good friends Emily & Lily who were visiting from Bangladesh! Unfortunately, not everyone at their house was feeling too well either, nonetheless it was wonderful visiting with our dear friends! Fortunately Emily had some Girl Scout Cookies and they seemed to help the mood immensely...nothing a cookie can't handle!

Sonny - The Easter Bunny

Yes, it's that time of year...when the world falls in love...wait wrong season...it's egg huntin' time! I wish you could have seen what led up to this picture! At first Lou was petrified of ole' Sonny! I mean it took her a good 30 minutes of warming up to him - but man once she did she was hooked! She barely could look for Easter Eggs she was so preoccupied with "where's Sonny?"

On another note...Our good friend Fiona asked Amy-Lee who Sonny was and he replied..."some man in a costume..." gone is our gullible little boy replaced by a jaded - hardened four year old!

Birthday madness

Today was Abby Grace's birthday party, a princess birthday party to be exact...my boy, as he affectionately refers to himself, went and was the only boy there, not counting Dads. He referred to himself as the "King" all morning, even wore his "King" boots and sword. Here he is having his hand painted by Slavka, the worlds best hand and face painter!

He has this new game he likes to play, I'm going to call it the "What would you say" game - not very imaginative - but it works!

For instance I'll say "you have to stay on the porch!" and he'll say "Mom, what will you say if you come outside & I'm on the porch?" My answer is suppose to be "Oh, I'm so glad you're on the porch!"

or he'll say... "what would Superman say if today was my birthday?" and the answer is suppose to be..."Happy Birthday Amy-Lee!" and this game goes on & on & on...the boy take after his mother where talking is concerned...and then some!

His hands

I love his hands! They work hard for our family! They mow the grass, grade tests, play music, bandage boo-boos, build walkways, fold laundry, offer condolences, toss baseballs, unclog toilets, feed the dogs, tickle, place bows in hair, and so much more...

Happy Birthday Boy!

Dempsey turns 10 today! Happy Birthday fella!

Cuter than pie!

I realize that I have been slack the past few weeks about posting pictures. I really don't have any excuse other than just being busy! I've started a little part-time/temporary job, which just takes up more of my time...it's only until June though so I think we can tough it out!

Here's a cute picture of Lou and her friend C-Bell. They play with each other every Monday, you already know this, and this image is from this past Monday. They were so cute together!

I promise to try better next week! Although, while we are on the subject, I might quit worrying about posting on the weekends and just try to post Monday-Friday...whatcha think?

T-Ball

My boy is playing T-Ball this year for the first time...is that even possible? Didn't I just birth him the other day? Wasn't I his only source of sustenance until recently? Geez he's growing up too fast! But man, can he ever hit a mean ball on a T!! And you're exactly right...his dad was proud!

Consignment Sale

Twice a year I spend 3 or 4 days prepping, shopping and volunteering at a consigment sale. For those of you out there who don't know what a consignment sale is, it's where folks sell their used children's clothing, toys and other paraphenelia, usually at great prices! One of the reasons I enjoy shopping at these is that I buy items for my kids that I would otherwise NEVER purchase, for example...these Spiderman gloves - $1.00!! He was thrilled with these and the other goodies I bought for him!
"Mom, when you saw these did you think 'ooooh, my boy would like these?'"
